Minor Forest Products Ride The Seven Seas

Abstract

The role placed by Minor Forest Products in the Commonwealth trade has been conveyed in this paper. Detailed study reveals that India's contribution of Minor Forest Products to Commonwealth countries has been remarkable and India not only enjoys the privilege of gifts bestowed on her by nature but shares them with the rest of the world. The requirements of Minor Forest Products (classified here into 15 groups for convenience) for the Commonwealth countries have been analysed for each commodity separately based on the export and import statistics for the past three years and inferences have been drawn group-wise as to how India meets the requirement of each commodity for Commonwealth countries and vice versa. These could not be more elaborately shown within the sphere of this brief paper. These overall trade picture in 15 groups of, Minor Forest Products has been shown in tables 2 and 3 which depict Indian trade with the Commonwealth countries as compared to the world trade.
