Abstract

Only fertilizer has significant effect on the growth of Eucalyptus tereticornis and Eucalyptus earnaldulensis seedlings. For boosting the growth and reducing the nursery period by about a months time it is recommended to adopt A4 (0.4 gm Urea, 1 gm Superphosphate and 0.3 gm Muriate of Potash) for Eucalyptus tereticornis and AS (0.6 gm Urea, 1.5 gm Superpbosphate and 0.45 gm Muriate of Potash) for Eucalyptus carnaldlilensis. The cost of fertilizer will work out to Rs. 4/- for 1000 containers seedlings for A4 but there is a saving of Rs. 18/- for Eucalyptus teretieornis. In the case of Eucalyptus carnaldulensis the cost of fertilizer per 1000 seedlings for A5 works out to Rs. 6/- but the maintenance cost is reduced by Rs. 16/-.
