Abstract

Biology of tendu defoliator Hypocala rostrata was studied. Larvae started to appear in the month of April and highest population was recorded in the month of October, 1985. In July and August average larval period of 18 ± 1.41 days was recorded. Pupal period varied from 6.17 ± 0.41 to 15.89 ± 4.43 days in April and November. Respectively. Nuvan and Monocrotophos in EC formulations were found effective to control the 3rd stage larvae.
