Acacia mangium has high potential for use in commercial plantations in the tropics and is widely used in some countries for soil conservation, sand stabilization, dune fixation and other economic products. This paper deals with the results of an experiment carried out by the Silviculture Division, Forest Research Institute, Dehra Dun for the best combination of the ratio of soil mixture and optimum depth of sowing the seeds. The results indicated that the soil mixture should be 2 : 1 (soil: sand) and seeds should be sown at the depth of 1.0 em. Farmyard manure use may be added after transplanting the seedlings in the ratio of 2 : 1 : 1 (Soil: sand: F.Y.M.).Downloads
